Matt Eichner has taught a variety of journalism courses from beginning news writing to photojournalism, to editing and design. He has taught at the university level since 2011. Prior to that he was an award-winning journalist, serving as a reporter/photographer, copy editor, managing editor, and sports editor. He received a masters in communication and leadership from Gonzaga University in 2013 and a Ph.D. in communications and media studies from the University of Oregon in 2022. His research interests center around trust in journalism and sports journalism. He enjoys spending time with his family, watching and playing sports, and eating Texas barbecue, preferably at the same time.
