Biography

Dr. Kris Gunawan is an experimental psychologist with a concentration in cognitive science. He joined UNLV’s Department of Psychology in 2020 as a faculty-in-residence. His research interests are in pedagogical effectiveness, human memory, and discourse processing.

He has taught courses in cognitive psychology, perception, biopsychology, learning and memory, statistics, research methods, psychometrics, and general psychology. At UNLV, he currently teaches cognitive neuroscience, graduate statistics, and senior capstone in psychology.

Dr. Gunawan has been awarded the Distinguished Psychology Faculty of the Year at California State University, Fullerton in 2015-2016 and the Distinguished Faculty of the Year at Centenary University (Hackettstown, NJ) in 2018-2019. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Association for Psychological Science.

He earned his doctoral degree in experimental psychology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2014.
