Miller has two decades of experience as a storyteller, editor and analyst across multiple media, from magazines to documentary film. From 2010-14, he served as editor of Vegas Seven magazine, helping build the publication and lead it to 95 state and regional honors in its first four years. He was named Nevada’s Outstanding Journalist in 2011, and in 2014 Seven won the state’s coveted General Excellence Award. Miller is also the story producer of the Beethoven | Hero documentary film trilogy; the first film, Following the Ninth: In the Footsteps of Beethoven’s Final Symphony, has screened at New York’s Lincoln Center and in more than 250 cities around the world. A former staff writer for Russia’s Moscow Times, Miller is interested in global media, long-form storytelling, sports narrative and cultural commentary across platforms. He received his doctorate from the University of Oregon and holds master’s degrees from the University of Washington in international studies and the University of Southern California in creative writing. Miller’s scholarly work focuses on how nostalgia can inspire creativity in different media and cultural contexts, both internationally and here in Las Vegas.
