Claudia Chiang-Lopez (Communication Studies MA '19, Multidisciplinary Studies BA '17) is a first-generation student and immigrant. They have won the 2021 Outstanding Instructor Award, and are a two-time Institute for Teachers of Color Fellow. As a scholar, her focus is on how marginalized communities create discursive spaces in-person and online, and through the use of relational dialectics. Their research includes pop culture, interpersonal violence, sports, and trauma-informed pedagogy. She has also published in the Queer Science, Technology and Society Studies Forum.
