Independent studies offer you the opportunity to work closely with a faculty member in areas of study beyond what is presented in the regular curriculum. The close contact with the faculty member in an independent study can be very beneficial to students when seeking letters of recommendation for graduate school or professional references.

Students

  • May repeat the CRJ 499 Independent Study class for up to a maximum of six credits.
  • Interested in an independent study must first contact a faculty member in the department whose research interests conform to the student's proposed independent study topic.
  • Must fill out the independent study form and submit it to the criminal justice department office once a faculty member approves of a project.
  • Students will be given authorization to register upon submitting completed form to main office.
