On June 12th, UNLV had the pleasure of hosting The Honorable Xavier Becerra, U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, for a panel discussion about Medicaid Redetermination. 

Chris Heavey, UNLV Executive Director and Provost, provided opening remarks, and the panel discussion was moderated by Shawn Gerstenberger, Dean, UNLV Greenspun College of Urban Affairs. 

Panelists included: 

• • The Honorable Aaron Ford, Attorney General, State of Nevada;
  • Dr. Sheldon A. Jacobs, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Nevada HealthLink;
  • Gina Glass, Executive Director, Dreamsickle Kids Foundation, and Member of the Nevada Minority Health Equity Coalition Advisory Council;
  • Rose Alejandre, Navigator Program Manager, Nevada Health Link; and 
  • Jose Melendez, Executive Director of Community Partnerships, UNLV School of Public Health, and Chair of the Nevada Minority Health and Equity Coalition

The panel discussion focused on the importance of increasing awareness and access, as well as the need to better inform people about Medicaid Redetermination.
