Sofia Takhtadjian and Issac Hernandez-Alcaraz (both from The Lincy Institute and Brookings Mountain West) were selected to represent Nevada as part of the 2023 Western Governors' Leadership Institute, where they attended the Western Governors' Association's 2023 Annual Meeting in Boulder, Colorado. The two participated in the institute’s leadership development forum with influential thought leaders to discuss issues facing the region including geothermal energy, water, ecosystem restoration, and healthcare.

Takhtadjian is a recent spring graduate who received her degree in criminal justice and a minor in theater arts. Hernandez-Alcaraz completed a double major in economics and political science and graduated this spring as well.
