Born and raised in Las Vegas, Layla graduated from UNLV with a BA in English and a minor in Creative Writing. She used to live in Yamanashi, Japan — home of the beautiful Mt. Fuji — where she helped teach English to high schoolers. Madi Kooba

Madi just graduated with her M.A. in English and has bachelor's degrees in English and in Cinema and Digital Media from University of California, Davis. She loves studying and researching pop-culture, particularly comics and graphic novels, and that’s what she spends a lot of her free time doing! Madison Browne

Madison is a second-year MA student in UNLV’s English department. She is interested in American literature and science fiction. Her research focuses on postmodernism, critical theory, and how technology and culture influence one another. In her free time, she loves attending concerts and eating sweets. Amie Greene

Amie graduated from UNLV in 2018 with a Bachelor's in English while minoring in Film. She has returned to UNLV to complete her Master's in English where she also teaches composition courses. Amie's research focuses on the role of women in antiquity, as well as modern adaptations of classical Greek myths. Miranda Hannasch

Miranda is a PhD student in the UNLV English Department, where she enjoys editing essays, reading reviews, and corralling commas. When not reading or writing, she can be found studying languages and obsessively listening to musicals. Ahmed

Consultant
Ahmed Naji is a writer from Egypt currently exiled in Las Vegas. In 2016 he was sentenced to two years for obscenity and disturbing public morals because of his novel “Using Life.” After a year in prison, he was able to sneak out of the country and immigrate to the USA. His upcoming book “Rotten Evidence,” which chronicles his time in prison, is due out in September 2023.

Alex

Alex Farhat is a nomadic poet who now finds himself in Las Vegas. Once upon a time, he studied to become a high school English teacher; do not hesitate to ask about some of his passions, which include grammar, Shakespeare, and hybrid poetry. 

Alyzza

Alyzza is in the English MA program, in the Writing and Rhetoric track. She’ll be teaching English 101 for the very first time this Fall semester, and will also be working virtually in the writing center. She was born in the Philippines, and moved straight to Las Vegas when she was 8 years old. She likes reading, playing tennis, watching movies, and listening to pop-punk.

Amie

Amie graduated from UNLV in 2018 with a Bachelor's in English while minoring in Film. After graduating she took a break to work at Disney World. Amie now returns to UNLV to complete her Master's in English. Outside of school you can find her playing video games, tending her plants, enjoying movies, and playing Dungeons and Dragons every weekend.

Branden Cunningham was born, raised and educated in Nevada. He went into activist work around environmental issues and spent close to eight years in that arena before changing gears to work two years on criminal justice reform. He brings his decade of activist work to his writing.

Ezra

Ezra is a Las Vegas native who has finally decided that they love the desert. They are currently working toward an MFA in Creative Writing: Poetry, so you can safely assume that they drink too much coffee, have a Shakespeare tattoo, and stay up way too late. Additionally, they have a background in tutoring and assistant teaching.

Iram is a first-generation student who just started his academic journey toward a master's degree. He was born in Las Vegas, NV to Mexican immigrants. In his free time, Iram enjoys cooking, working out, reading, and writing. He eventually plans to pursue a Ph.D. in English, primarily in the fields of the medical humanities and Latinx-American literature.

Per Loufman moved to Las Vegas from Philadelphia where he was born and raised and received a degree in Creative Writing. He spent 7 years working in the restaurant scene there before coming across the country to pursue an MFA in Fiction Writing.

Polly is from Manti, a town in Central Utah that mostly grows alfalfa and raises sheep and turkeys. She lived in Salt Lake City until recently. She loves to play and listen to music. Her favorite book is The Knight by Gene Wolfe.

  Sabrina is an MFA candidate in fiction from the Bay Area, California. Before moving to Vegas, she worked as a software engineer at various companies in Silicon Valley. She enjoys live music and her cat.

Saniyah is passionate about writing. Her favorite genre to write and read is psychological thrillers. She is currently a biology major with hopes of becoming a psychiatrist. She also loves music, dancing, drawing, and rainy weather.
