Workday is a leading provider of enterprise cloud applications for human resources and finance. Founded in 2005, Workday delivers human capital management, financial management, and analytics applications designed for the world’s largest organizations. Hundreds of companies, ranging from medium-sized businesses to Fortune 50 enterprises, have selected Workday.

Features

Workday has a number of key features that make it attractive. Workday at UNLV will be:

Intuitive

Workday has an intuitive user interface that mimics the usability of consumer websites. One of the reasons it was selected was that it is very user-friendly.

Mobile-Enabled

Workday can be mobile-enabled for iOs, Android, and Blackberry. This makes it possible to function from anywhere. Analysis is ongoing to determine whether this will be available in the first phase.

Automated

Without having to wait for paperwork to be keyed in, local HR teams will have access to real-time information. There will be no question about process status, and reports will always be up to date. This enables better and timely decision making.

Agile

Workday will be configured—and not customized—for the university. That means no hard coding. Workday can quickly reflect any organizational changes.

Integrated

With Workday comes an improved ability to build, deploy, manage, and evolve integrations with third-party systems.

Current

All Workday clients are on the same version of its software. Twice a year, Workday is updated with additional features and functionality. This means that the university has the best human capital management tools and processes available to enable better service to faculty, staff, and student employees.

Interactive

As part of the “Workday Community,” UNLV can make suggestions to improve and enhance Workday’s functionality, especially for higher-education users. These “brainstorms” are shared amongst the user community, are voted on, and then may be included as part of Workday’s next release.

Best Practice

Finally, all of Workday’s delivered business processes are best in class. This is important as the university launches its first human resources information system. Our starting point will be “Why not Workday?” Although this may mean the method of accomplishing certain actions will be different after launch, Workday was selected to enable the consistent delivery of core HR services across the university.
