Opening Celebration and Art Walk
Dean Nancy J. Uscher and the UNLV College of Fine Arts, the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art, and the Donna Beam Fine Art Gallery invited the City of Las Vegas to an evening of spectacular celebration marking the 60th anniversary of UNLV and the 50th anniversary of the Barrick Museum. The occasion honored the Las Vegas Arts Community for its dedicated support of the arts and culture in Southern Nevada as the Barrick opens its Fall exhibitions, Preservation and liminal. Organized by renowned Los Angeles curator Aurora Tang, Preservation explores themes of survival and renewal in a group exhibition that introduces Las Vegas to numerous artists of international stature including Max Hooper Schneider, Candice Lin, and German sound artist Moritz Fehr. A walking tour through the campus grounds brought guests face to face with every unit of the College of Fine Arts.
