Top Navigation Bar

Do not attempt to make the top navigation bar appear like the UNLV homepage. Unit homepages use a different variation of the top navigation bar.

UNLV Homepage

The UNLV homepage features a unique variation of the top navigation bar that is to not be replicated on any other site.

Features
  • UNLV logo and name: A larger UNLV logo appears in the red bar on all devices. The logo serves as the website title. The university name additionally appears in the gray bar on desktop devices.
  • Audience and topic menus: These display as dropdown menus on mobile devices and expand to horizontal menus on desktops devices.
  • Find Icon: The magnifying glass icon slides the find drawer open. This appears the same on the UNLV homepage and unit websites.

Unit Websites

Websites for campus units use a different variation of the top navigation bar.

Features
  • UNLV logo and name: A smaller UNLV logo appears in the gray bar on all devices. The university name additionally appears in the gray bar on desktop devices. Unlike the UNLV homepage, the UNLV logo does not serve as the website title.
  • Website title: The website title appears in the red bar, under the UNLV logo. If necessary, a shortened website title appears in mobile. A full website title appears in its place on desktop. If the website title exceeds the width of the navigation bar, the website title is truncated with an ellipsis at the end.
  • Audience and topic menus: These display as dropdown menus on all devices. These menus are global menus and cannot be altered or used as navigation for your website.
  • Menu Icon: This icon, sometimes referred to as a "hamburger icon" slides the menu drawer open. This menu is the primary navigation for your website.
  • Find Icon: The magnifying glass icon slides the find drawer open. This appears the same on the UNLV homepage and unit websites.

Menu and Find Drawers

When a user activates the menu icon ( ) in the top navigation bar, the menu drawer slides out from the left side of the screen. This drawer holds the main menu for the unit website. When a user activates the find icon ( ) in the top navigation bar, the find drawer slides out from the left side of the screen. This drawer includes global search and browse features.

Menu

  • This drawer holds the primary navigation for your website.
  • Replace the level-two heading at the top of the drawer to your website title.
  • The first menu item is reserved for a link to your website's homepage.
  • Menu items can be nested, creating menu sections.

Find

  • This drawer holds global search and browse options for the entire UNLV domain.
  • Do not alter anything in this drawer.
  • On the static HTML version of this template, the A-Z Index tab is not included.

Global Footer

The website footer is a global region that is to remain consistent from to site-to-site. Do not alter any content in the footer. If you need to include contact information, it is suggested to create a "Contact Us" page and include in your menu.
