Eligibility for Application to Program for Fall 2022

  • Starting enrollment as a full-time (12 credits) freshman at UNLV in Fall 2022.
  • 3.25 cumulative un-weighted high school G.P.A. or higher from a Clark County high school.
  • Must demonstrate financial need. This is typically accomplished by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If you are unable to complete the FAFSA, you should complete the Alternate Need Determination Form.
  • Must successfully navigate the application process. Those who are selected from their application materials (including successfully demonstrating financial need) will move onto the interview round; final decisions will be made from the pool of applicants who successfully interview.

Application Timeline for 2022 Cohort

  • October 2021 - Application Opens
  • November 15 & November 22 - Virtual Information Sessions
  • December 1, 2021 - Application Deadline*
  • January 2022 – Interviews of Selected Candidates (Interviews will be conducted via online meeting or phonecall)
  • February 2022 - Selection Notification
  • May 1, 2022 - Final Decision Deadline for Selected Candidates (will open to the waitlist if spots available)
  • August 2022 – Enrolled scholars begin scholarship program

* Late applications will only be reviewed if spots are still available after the priority applications have been processed.

Scholar Requirements to Remain in Program

  • Complete 100 hours of community service per year (50 hours per semester). **
  • Must enroll and complete 12 credit hours every fall and spring semester at UNLV.
  • Maintain 3.0 cumulative G.P.A.
  • Attend all mandatory scholar events, including the new scholars course in the first semester, orientation each fall, scholar meetings, and formal receptions.
