Eligibility for Application to Program for Fall 2018

  • Starting enrollment as a full-time (12 credits) freshman at UNLV in Fall 2018.
  • 3.25 cumulative un-weighted high school G.P.A. or higher from a Clark County high school.
  • Must demonstrate financial need. This is typically accomplished by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If you are unable to complete the FAFSA, you should complete the Alternate Need Determination Form.
  • Must successfully navigate the application process. Those who are selected from their application materials (including successfully demonstrating financial need) will move onto the interview round; final decisions will be made from the pool of applicants who successfully interview.

Application Timeline for 2018 Cohort

  • Early November, 2017 - Application Opens
  • March 1, 2018 - Priority Application Deadline*
  • January to May 2018 - Interviews
  • May/June 2018 – Selection Notification
  • August 2018 – Selected students begin scholarship program

*Early applications are strongly encouraged since applications received by the March 1 deadline will be given priority consideration in filling the available spots. Late applications may result in a delayed timeline for processing, and will only be reviewed if spots are still available after the priority applications have been processed.

Scholar Requirements to Remain in Program

  • Complete 100 hours of community service per year (50 hours per semester).
  • Must enroll and complete 12 credit hours every fall and spring semester at UNLV.
  • Maintain 3.0 cumulative G.P.A.
  • Attend all mandatory scholar events, including the new scholars course in the first semester, orientation each fall, scholar meetings, and formal receptions.
