Newly Admitted Students

You must be admitted to UNLV before you can meet with an advisor.

Are you a freshman who has already been admitted to UNLV?

New freshmen admitted for fall semesters will be advised at New Student Orientation (NSO).

  • Placement testing must be completed before NSO.
  • Advisors will register new freshmen in fall classes just before NSO.
  • New freshmen enrolled in SCI 101 for the fall semester will receive additional advising through that class after fall classes begin.
  • New freshmen not enrolled in SCI 101 for the fall semester will receive additional advising by appointment after fall classes begin.
  • Majors who are also members of the Honors College will receive additional joint advising after fall classes begin.

New freshmen admitted for spring semesters will be advised individually by appointment in late November. Call 702-895-2077 and ask for a new freshman advising appointment.

  • Placement testing must be completed before the advising appointment.
  • New freshmen will enroll in spring classes during the appointment.

Are you a Transfer Student from a Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Institution who has already been admitted to UNLV?

  3. Schedule advising appointment to review degree audit and determine first semester enrollment: 702-895-2077

NSHE students from any institution who have already been admitted to the UNLV College of Sciences and whose transcripts have all been entered into MyUNLV should call our Advising Center at 702-895-2077 and ask for an advising appointment.
