The UNLV Travel Risk Assessment Committee (TRAC) reviews and advises the President and/or delegated authority on all international and selected domestic travel requests for authorization consideration. The TRAC may review various sources of information including but not limited to:
- Traveler’s application request
- Traveler’s supporting documents
- The U.S. Department of State Travel Advisories (for international travel). The TRAC considers the Department of State advisory Level 3 and/or Level 4 risky for the international traveler and will not recommend authorization for approval.
Since the onset of the pandemic and the restrictions on travel, TRAC also reviews requests for essential domestic travel. International and domestic travel requests are reviewed for health and safety considerations. In normal circumstances, the decision by the TRAC on a travel request is final. However, while the policy to travel is restricted during the pandemic, the TRAC's recommendation after a request has been reviewed, goes to the Executive Vice President and Provost for final approval. The TRAC has representation from the Office of General Counsel, the Office of Risk Management and Safety, the Office of Student Conduct, the faculty and ex-officio representation from International Programs.
