Biography

Dr. Vicki Holmes retired from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2017. Before coming to teach at UNLV, Vicki taught English at the University of California, Riverside; Panama Canal College in Panama City, Panama; the University of Maryland Extension in Spain; and the Community College of Southern Nevada. 

Dr. Holmes completed her undergraduate degree in theatre and english at New Mexico State University, two master’s degrees in theatre and education at Arizona State University and Denver University, and her doctorate in adult education and applied linguistics at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  Her current research interests focus on second language writing and speaking.

Dr. Vicki Holmes is the co-author of the Cambridge University Press text, Pattern Poems, Creative Writing for Language Acquisition, as well as the author of more than 25 scholarly articles. She regularly presents her research at international conferences and meetings.
