Institutional Program Coordinator
Megan Cortney serves as the UNLV School of Medicine’s Institutional Program Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Graduate Medical Education Director, she works to support all residency and fellowship program coordinators administrative processes, orchestrates the annual on-boarding of the intern physician class alongside GME program leadership, as well as manages the affiliation agreement process for all GME programs. Before joining the GME team, Megan started as an administrative assistant in Human Resources for the School of Medicine responsible for on-boarding and appointing Community Faculty members to various programs within the school. She then worked as the Grants Specialist for the Family Medicine Department for the RESEP and NTS grants which primarily focuses on both treating local community members who are known as “down winders” of the Nevada Test Site and to assist them with their applications for governmental reimbursement. Shortly after, Megan joined the GME Team as the Executive Assistant to the Dean and DIO where she was responsible for managing the GME Team and daily office operations. Megan became the Statewide GME Program Coordinator in 2017 but later transitioned into the Institutional Program Coordinator role as UNLV became the sponsoring institution of all GME programs located in Southern Nevada previously under UNR. A notary public, Megan earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Master of Science degree in Management and Leadership.
