Liz Carrasco is a licensed psychotherapist and is the trauma specialist at UNLV Student Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Ms. Carrasco earned her Master of Social Work degree (MSW) and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice at UNLV. Ms. Carrasco is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and specializes in working with victims of interpersonal violence and trauma. She created the specialty rotation in trauma and sexual assault at CAPS for doctoral interns. She utilizes approaches based on the following theoretical orientations: feminism, cognitive behavioral theory, attachment theory, insight-oriented approaches, and a trauma-informed lens for clinical conceptualization. Ms. Carrasco has been trained to use a variety of trauma focused treatments including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Somatic Psychotherapy. Ms. Carrasco is also a part-time faculty instructor and an agency field instructor for the UNLV School of Social Work.
