Kyle Helms, M.S., PGA
Assistant Director & Internship Coordinator, PGA Golf Management Program
Kyle Helms, originally from New Jersey, moved to Las Vegas in 2003 where he attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation with a concentration in PGA Golf Management. During his time in the program, Kyle was an active Executive Board member, and he secured internships at four high-end golf clubs, including The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs and the exclusive Congressional Country Club near Washington D.C.
In 2008, Kyle returned to UNLV to earn his Master of Science degree in Sport and Leisure Service Management with an emphasis in sport psychology. Specifically, Kyle studied the relationship between anxiety and golf performance for advanced players. Based on the findings, he developed professional implications for golf coaches and players on how they can better manage psychological and physiological symptoms on the golf course.
Upon graduating from UNLV, Kyle was selected by UNLV to serve as the Assistant Coach for the women’s golf team under the leadership of Amy Bush in 2010. After a successful season, he was hired by Las Vegas National Golf Club to manage the facility and operation. As PGA Head Golf Professional, Kyle gained valuable management experience and successfully developed a business plan that allowed the course to significantly increase revenue and control expenses.
In 2011 and 2012, Kyle also served as Tournament Director for the Harmon’s Heroes Foundation, an organization devoted to encouraging wellness and quality of life for combat-wounded veterans through the game of golf.
In 2012, Kyle was hired by UNLV to serve as Assistant Director and Internship Coordinator for the PGA program. His primary areas of focus include classroom instruction, career advisement, academic advising, and internship placement. Kyle is also actively involved in player development and student meetings and events.
In 2014, Kyle was elected by fellow PGA professionals to serve a two-year term as a Board Member for the PGA Southwest Section Southern Nevada Chapter. Within the Chapter, Kyle holds positions on the Education Committee and Junior Golf Committee.
