Biography

Kristin Steffen, senior director of the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Office of Faculty Affairs, collaborates with the senior associate dean for faculty affairs and director of learning and performance to provide an environment for faculty to feel welcomed, empowered, and supported in their growth and contribution.

Her work includes assisting with development and oversight of faculty processes in relation to recruitment, retention, appointment, evaluation, tenure and promotion, merit, sabbatical and professional development, leave, and awards and recognition.

Kristin also serves at the interim director of the new continuing medical education (CME) program at the school. In this role, she is tasked with the operational oversight, strategic direction, and pipeline development of CME efforts.

Prior to joining the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine, Kristin had worked in higher education for over 10 years and served as an assistant director, Deputy Title IX Coordinator and project manager to the chief operating officer and chief financial officer of USF Health. Before her career in higher education, Kristin worked in local and state government for 10 years serving citizens in the state of Florida.

Kristin received her undergraduate degree from Florida State University as well as a master of science in management and master of public health in healthcare organizations and management degrees from the University of South Florida. She is certified in public health (CPH) by the National Board of Public Health Examiners and a certified Human Resource Professional (SHRM-CP) through the Society of Human Resource Management. She is an instructor in the UNLV School of Public Health Executive Master of Healthcare Administration Program.

A champion for diversity and inclusion efforts, Kristin is a former certified Title IX Investigator and Administrator. She received the Title IX Outstanding Individual Achievement Award from the University of South Florida Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Equal Opportunity and served as the chair of the Title IX Presidential Oversight Committee for the University of South Florida System.
