A former city editor at the Las Vegas Sun, Kathy Espin spent 12 years in resort public relations and marketing. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte and her master’s degree in communication from UNLV. She currently teaches public relations writing, media ethics and supervises journalism internships at UNLV. She was recognized by UNLV with an award for Outstanding Teaching by Part-time Faculty in 2003. Since 1997, Espin has served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for Clark County Family Court.
Espin’s freelance writing has been published in TravelAge West, Nevada Magazine, Nevada Hospitality, Southern Nevada Home and Garden, and the Los Angeles Times Calendar. She is the author of Kidding Around Las Vegas, a Parent’s Guide, published in 2005 by Huntington Press.
A native of Charlotte, N.C., Espin has lived in Las Vegas for 40 years.
