Dr. John Phelps, a professor at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, completed a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. A graduate of the Georgetown University School of Medicine, Dr. Phelps completed a second fellowship in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. Prior to his arrival at UNLV, Dr. Phelps was part of the teaching faculty at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX, for 18 years and was the most recent Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He also was the fellowship director there. Dr. Phelps has authored or co-authored 73 peer-reviewed medical publications and nine book chapters on topics that included laparoscopic hysterectomy. A licensed attorney in Texas, Dr. Phelps earned his law degree and Masters of Health Law at the University of Houston. Dr. Phelps also has 25 years of military service and is currently a U.S. Naval Reserve Captain. He has received three Army Commendation Medals, one Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and two Navy and Marine Corps Meritorious Service Medals.
