Felicia Sumler brings more than 25 years of university-setting experience. Felicia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Organizational Leadership.  In her current role at UNLV she performs contract and grant administration, including the processing of noncompeting continuations, supplements, other award/agreement amendments, and sub award initiation, monitoring and modification. Negotiating, executing, administering and monitoring contracts, grants, and cooperative agreements for several college divisions within UNLV; while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, policies and regulations.  

Before joining OSP she was responsible for providing cradle to grave management for the UNLV IDeA CTR-IN grant.  She provided on-going sponsored award administration of the grant to ensure that deliverables were produced, financial reports submitted and contract terms were adhered to. She was also responsible for proposal and subcontract development and submission, documenting and monitoring subaward activities, analyzing and reviewing expenditures and the close out process.

Prior to joining UNLV, Felicia was the Operations Manager for the Travel and Entertainment department in Business and Finance at UCSD, were she responsible for the day-to-day operations.  She provided leadership, delegated work direction, recruitment, training, and evaluation of staff.  Defined and developed metrics and performance indicators, long and short term strategic planning and developing initiatives for the department. She was also accountable for providing analysis to campus departments on policy and procedure. She also served as a Financial Manager for pre and post award administration in the Neurosciences and Biological Sciences departments.  Where she provided financial management of various grants to assigned PIs, by creating spreadsheets that detailed budgets, spending trends, projections, expenditures and revenue balances.  Before working at UCSD, she served as an Accountant at UCLA in the Office of Extramural Fund Management where she was responsible for post award administration.  There she was responsible for the close-out of grants, producing invoices and reports to various agencies for assigned campus departments.
