Biography

Dr. Emily Shreve is the associate director of academic transitions in the Academic Success Center (ASC) at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). She received both her M.A. and Ph.D. in English literature from Lehigh University, located in Bethlehem, PA. During her time there, she worked extensively with first-year students as an instructor in the First-Year Writing Program. She also facilitated first-year seminars and taught elective courses on topics such as reality television and political satire. As a graduate assistant in the Office of the First-Year Experience, she managed the Summer Reading Program and developed a weekly newsletter geared toward first-year students, filled with tips for academic success. Her research interests include common reading programs and the depiction of higher education in literature and popular media.

A native of Ohio, she received her B.A. in English from Bowling Green State University. Though she loved being a resident of both Pennsylvania and Ohio, she is particularly excited to now say “Home Means Nevada.”
