Dana Bickmore, Ph.D.
Associate Professor for the M.Ed. in Educational Policy & Leadership
Dana Bickmore received her Ph.D. in Middle Grades Education with an emphasis in School Leadership from the University of Georgia in 2005. Prior to joining the Educational Policy & Leadership Program at UNLV, she was the director of the K-12 Educational Leadership Program at Louisiana State University, a program that focused on preparing instructional school leaders for diverse settings. Dr. Bickmore also spent 28 years in public schools where she served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction for a large school district. As a teacher and principal she received several honors, including being named the state Middle School Principal of the year.
Dr. Bickmore’s research includes principal leadership in charter and middle schools, the professional development of practicing principals, and the principal’s role in induction. Her research appears in national and international journals, such as the Journal of School Leadership, Teaching and Teacher Education, and the International Journal of Educational Leadership Preparation, as well in several edited books. Dr. Bickmore has served as a member and officer in national practitioner and research organizations and currently sits on several national and international journal editorial boards.
