UNLV, Area Partners to Host Immigrant Career Summit at CSN on March 11

On March 11, UNLV will join a host of local and statewide partners for an Immigrant Career Summit at the College of Southern Nevada’s (CSN) North Las Vegas campus. The summit is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the campus’ Student Union, with a resource fair planned from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Through a series of presentations and workshops, the summit will present Southern Nevada’s immigrant community with resources to continue their education, access professional opportunities, and start their own business, regardless of immigration status. Organizers hope to create awareness of the opportunities immigrants have to achieve higher education and become entrepreneurs, an important distinction as immigrants are 80% more likely to start businesses in the U.S. than native-born citizens.

Collaborating partners include UNLV, CSN, Nevada State College, University of Nevada, Reno, Make the Road Nevada, Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada, the Governor’s Office for New Americans, and the Consulate of Mexico in Las Vegas.

Those planning to attend are encouraged to RSVP online.
