Oct. 5 - Oct 11 marks Fire Prevention Week 2025. This year’s theme is Charge into Fire Safety™: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home. Many of the rechargeable electronics we use daily in our homes and at work — such as smartphones, laptops, headphones, and power tools—are powered by lithium-ion batteries. While these batteries are powerful and convenient, they can overheat, start a fire, or explode if overcharged or damaged.
Risk Management, Fire, and Life Safety will host a booth near the Central Desert Complex on Oct. 7, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. At the event, they will hand out fire safety pamphlets and goodie bags to UNLV students, faculty, and staff. They will also host a Q&A session and provide fire safety education to the UNLV community related to this year’s theme.
