Revised OSP Effort Reporting Policy

The Revised Effort Reporting Policy became effective in December and does apply to the current effort certifications that were generated Jan. 7, 2020.

Please be sure to review this policy as it applies to all personnel who are involved with and are paid from a sponsored project(s). It also reflects a more restrictive (28 days) timeframe for completion.

  • Effort directly charged or cost-shared to a sponsored project must be certified through the effort reporting process within 28 days of the date effort reports are initially generated in Workday.
  • Effort on sponsored projects is reported as a percentage of total institutional effort during a reporting period.
  • The certification verifies that payroll expenses either directly charged or cost-shared to a sponsored project are reasonably accurate in relation to the actual amount of effort spent on activities that benefited project's scope of work.
