Office of International Students and Scholars Offering Fall 2021 Distinguished Contribution Award

The Office of International Students & Scholars is excited to announce that this semester we will be offering a new opportunity, the UNLV OISS International Student Distinguished Contribution Award. 
The purpose of the award is to recognize and acknowledge a UNLV degree-seeking international student at each degree level who has greatly contributed to the development and continued growth of their field through scholarly or creative projects at UNLV. The awardee must be a currently enrolled UNLV degree-seeking F-1 or J-1 student to be nominated. 
If you are interested in applying, please complete the application form. The application deadline is Nov. 14.
Awards are open to all UNLV degree-seeking F-1 or J-1 international students who meet the following requirements:

  • Students must have already completed at least one semester with full-time enrollment in order to apply
  • Students must be enrolled full-time for the fall 2021 semester
  • Students must have at least a 2.75 (Undergraduate) or 3.0 (Graduate) cumulative GPA
  • One award will be granted at each degree level

Each nomination must contain, and is limited to, the following: 

  • The student's curriculum vitae or rsume containing a listing of scholarly activity, leadership/service activities, awards, and honors of nominee.
  • A formal letter of nomination from a NSHE faculty member. Please attach the nomination letter that is both printed on UNLV department letterhead and signed by the faculty member. The one-paged nomination letter should describe the student's continued success in research/scholarly project(s) and their contribution to UNLV and their field of study.
  • Optional documents, i.e. journal publications, conference programs, etc.
