Su is currently an associate professor with tenure at the department of health promotion, College of Public Health, University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). He has been serving as the director of the Center for Reducing Health Disparities at UNMC since 2012. Under his leadership, the center’s work has made it possible for the College of Public Health at UNMC to receive the Harrison C. Spencer Award for Outstanding Community Service in 2020 from the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health.
He received his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Chicago in 2006. His research interests center around social, cultural, and technological determinants of health disparities. Part of Su’s recent work assesses the efficacy of telemedicine in improving diabetes management among high-risk patients. His research has been funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, National Cancer Institute, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Health Resources and Services Administration, and other funding agencies.
