On Oct. 7, UNLV will host the 2022 NSHE Southern Nevada Diversity Summit. This year's theme is “Embracing Community Care: Higher Education's Role in Addressing Health Inequities." The keynote speakers for this dynamic event will be Eric Deggans and Haben Girma.
Eric Deggans has covered TV, media, music, and pop culture for over 30 years. Currently serving as TV Critic for NPR, Eric also teaches as an adjunct professor at Duke University and is author of a book about race and media called, "Race-Baiter: How the Media Wields Dangerous Words to Divide a Nation." He and his work have appeared on PBS NewsHour, CBS Mornings, The New York Times, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News Channel, and many other outlets.

The first deafblind person to graduate from Harvard Law School, Haben Girma is a human rights lawyer advancing disability justice. President Obama named her a White House Champion of Change in 2013. She has received the Helen Keller Achievement Award as well as a spot on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list and TIME100 Talks.
