July Resources: Minority Mental Health Awareness and Disability Pride Month

UNLV’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) partner, ComPsych, provides online resources that focus on various wellness topics. Resources include digital toolkits with curated information, interactive training modules, and newsletters with relevant articles and helpful tips.

EAP resources are available to all UNLV employees and eligible dependents.

July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month and Disability Pride Month
 
National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month
 
Inspired by Bebe Moore Campbell, an American author, journalist, teacher, mental health advocate, and co-founder of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Urban Los Angeles, this month brings awareness to the unique struggles that racial and ethnic minority communities face regarding mental health.

To coincide with National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, UNLV Benefits will host Relaxation Micro Moments and Winding Down Techniques on Wednesday, July 13. In this wellness webinar, learn how to reduce stress and the feeling of being overwhelmed with helpful techniques to calm the mind and body. 

Disability Pride Month
 
This month recognizes the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) being signed into law on July 26, 1990, and celebrates the diversity and uniqueness of each person in the disability community and people who have disabilities.
