Douglass Day Transcribe-a-thon Feb. 14

Join the University Libraries and the Department of Interdisciplinary, Gender and Ethnic Studies for UNLV's second Douglass Day celebration, an annual program that marks the birth of Frederick Douglass.

Each year for Douglass Day, thousands of people nationwide gather to help create new and freely available resources for learning about Black history.

In 2025, event participants will transcribe the “African American Perspectives” from the archives of the Library of Congress. This extraordinarily rich collection of over 800 titles comprises two collections; the African American Pamphlet Collection and the Daniel A.P. Murray Collection. These titles give a panoramic and eclectic review of African American history and culture and include various sermons on racial pride and political activism; annual reports of charitable, educational, and political organizations; speeches and narratives, and much more.

No experience transcribing necessary. Prizes, snacks, cake, and refreshments provided.

Register through the Involvement Center.
