Documentary Screening with Journalism Alumnus Pj Perez Oct. 14

The Greenspun College of Urban Affairs and Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies will host an in-person event from 4-6 p.m Oct. 14 at Greenspun Hall's auditorium with alumus Pj Perez. Perez will debut his feature-length documentary, Parkway of Broken DreamsAfter the screening, Perez will participate in a discussion about the film and his career. The screening will be moderated by Ryan Balaz, a master's student in the Hank Greenspun School Journalism and Media Studies.

Parkway of Broken Dreams is a documentary that tells the story of the scrappy group of artists, poets, musicians, DJs, and entrepreneurs who built a thriving, influential, and short-lived arts scene along Maryland Parkway in the 1990s, The film is the debut feature by director Perez, a former Las Vegas magazine editor and freelance journalist whose 2006 Las Vegas Weekly oral history of the Maryland Parkway scene served as the template for the documentary.

Free and open to the public. Audience members are required to wear a mask during the entirety of the event.
