Business Affairs leadership changes

Rebecca Barber, associate vice president of the Financial Planning, Budget, and Analysis division; and Sheila Carrier, Business Affairs' chief compliance officer, will leave UNLV at the end of September.

Rebecca Barber

Rebecca came to UNLV in 2019. Since then, she’s led multiple efforts to transform the budget office into a strategic financial planning and analysis operation. Her many contributions include leading the implementation of the Anaplan budget platform, navigating significant state budget reductions through the pandemic, and strategically utilizing federal COVID-19 relief funds.

We invite you to attend a reception on October 4 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Goldfield Room at Lied Library to acknowledge Rebecca’s contributions and wish her well on her next chapter.

Beginning October 1, Elise Bunkowski will assume the role of interim associate vice president of the Financial Planning, Budget, and Analysis division.

Sheila Carrier

Since joining Business Affairs in 2020, Sheila has lent her expertise to transforming the function formerly known as ‘campus audit’ to a proactive approach to compliance and risk assessment. Her many contributions include: Developing the Section 117 compliance process, coordinating the Legislative Counsel Bureau audit, piloting a Governance Risk and Compliance system, and developing a charter for the institutional compliance advisory council.

Beginning October 1, compliance analyst Laura Schneider will report to senior executive director of Strategic Initiatives Alex Nikolich on an interim basis. Alex will serve as the main point of contact for several key campus compliance initiatives.
We will share more information about competitive searches for both positions later this fall.
