5 Tech Tips Staff Can Use for Smooth Semester Start

Save time and be better prepared this semester with some quick tech tips our information technology (IT) experts want you to know for the fall.

  • Re-enroll or set up eduroam WiFi before coming to campus. Go to wifi.unlv.edu on your device and follow the instructions. Once it's set up, your device will automatically connect to eduroam when you're on campus.
  • If you’re getting a new phone, you’ll need to set up Okta Verify multifactor authentication (MFA) on your new device before trading it in or contact the IT Help Desk to help reset your MFA.
  • Make sure you can log into your ACE account before the first day of the semester. If you forgot your ACE password, reset it to quickly access your UNLVMail, Workday, and MyUNLV accounts as the semester starts.
  • Stay organized with artificial intelligence (AI) tools and services. Use Google’s Gemini to help brainstorm new content and Zoom’s AI Companion to quickly summarize meetings.
  • Use Grammarly to improve your writing, catch errors, and enhance clarity as you draft emails, reports, and academic content. Submit a software request form to request a license.

For more tips from our IT team, view the What’s New In Campus Technology article or explore it.unlv.edu/facultystaff for additional resources. If you need help with your ACE account or other technology questions, please contact the IT Help Desk.
