"Looking Up" recognizes the tireless efforts of dedicated students through a challenging school year by featuring student compositions and arrangements.
Established in 1976, the DownBeat Student Music Awards are considered the most prestigious awards in jazz education, and UNLV Jazz has garnered 33 DownBeat Student Music Awards since 2010.
The UNLV Honors Jazz Trio also was a winner at the prestigious Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival College Combo Division in 2018 and 2020.
The recording, available for download on BandCamp, receives a rave review from Jazz Times Magazine in its upcoming November issue.
The festival is sponsored by Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Jazz Outreach Initiative, UNLV, and Thomas Bridge.
