UNLV College of Fine Arts Dean Nancy J. Uscher invites you to the 4th Annual UNLV Art Walk, this year entitled "Art Restart" — a celebration of the arts, co-presented by Susan N. Houston, 5-9 p.m. Nov. 5. Join us as we honor the Las Vegas arts community for its dedication and support of arts and culture in Southern Nevada.
Come and explore a variety of art exhibitions, performances, and live music as you walk along the academic mall of the UNLV campus. In addition, enjoy bites from your favorite local restaurants, a beer garden, wine tastings, and more. The event is free and open to the public. Learn about all of the Art Walk events here.
This year also features a special tribute to honor the 40th anniversary of "The Flashlight" — UNLV's most famous sculpture, located in the plaza between Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall and Judy Bayley Theatre. Making its debut in 1981, The Flashlight, created by famed artists Claes Oldenburg and Coosje Van Bruggen, is a 38-foot tall form made up of 24 black steel fins painted with polyurethane enamel. It was commissioned to "amplify the vision" of the Performing Arts Center.
The Oldenburg Flashlight 40th Anniversary Ceremony at the UNLV Performing Arts Center will begin promptly at 7 p.m. on the night of Art Walk.
