Taka Yamashita is an assistant professor of sociology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
He has authored and co-authored social scientific articles on health and aging, health inequalities, social gerontology education, and life satisfaction focusing both on the U.S. and several Asian nations. His current work includes policy and geographic aspects of "aging in place" given the increasing older population in the U.S.. Also, he works on several research projects regarding the impact of community-based adult education on older adults' well-being, predictors of nursing home discharge in Nevada, and work and life satisfaction in Asian nations.
Dr. Yamashita teaches in the area of medical sociology, aging and social policy, sociology of aging, and statistics in social science.
