As Senior Vice Provost at UNLV, Carl Reiber focuses on day-to-day operations, such as academic affairs and grant management.
Reiber has held numerous administrative positions over his more than 20-year career at UNLV, including Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, Director of General Education, Associate Dean of the College of Sciences, Director of the School of Life Sciences, and Chair of the Department of Biological Sciences.
Carl serves on the Governor's Committee for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.). In addition to overseeing his ongoing research with the National Institutes of Health (N.I.H.) — National Center for Research Resources (N.C.R.R.) — IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (I.N.B.R.E.); a percentage of his time is allocated to administer the Nevada State System of Higher Education (NSHE) Nevada (NV) UNLV Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) STEM grant.
