This semester, UNLV became just the second Steak & Shake destination in the Las Vegas Valley. The restaurant, founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois, is an icon in certain parts of the country, and transplants to our city have flocked to the only other location at the South Point Casino. The company pioneered the concept of premium steak burgers and milk shakes.

While menus can vary across the country, UNLV’s Steak & Shake will offer Steakburgers, fries, grilled chicken, chicken tenders, and the Frisco Melt. Featured milkshakes include the classics (chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry), Butterfinger, Oreo cookies & cream, cookie dough, M&M peanut butter cup, and Nutella.

Never heard of Steak 'n Shake?  We asked Jamie Bichelman, Police Services publications writer and Florida native, what the fuss is all about.

Steak n ShakeThe Memories: Nostalgia makes all dining experiences that much tastier. My first memory of Steak 'n Shake came as an 8-year-old, celebrating my older brother's acceptance to the University of Florida. Some of our happiest memories were at the restaurant. Now, almost two decades later, I get to experience the same celebratory feeling in a collegiate atmosphere

Celebrating life? Bring on the sliders. L'chaim! Pro tip: I use different sauces for each of my sliders to make for a different experience each time!

employee rining up customerThe Customer Service: I value customer service and a price commensurate with the quality of the food. At Steak N Shake, I've always appreciated that the excellent prices come with 5-star friendliness and superb quality of the food.
