The CoRE Fellows would like to invite all faculty and staff to mingle across disciplines in support of a movement toward a campus cross-disciplinary culture.
CoRE is about providing faculty/staff with collaborative ways to flourish at UNLV. Cross-disciplinary teams produce the most impactful research and are a critical component of Tier ONE research status. Additionally, cross-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary collaborative efforts can deeply enrich educational programs and enhance campus cohesion and culture. For these reasons, UNLV has a vested interest in developing and fostering collaborative research and education.
The CoRE Fellows have been planning future activities that will support a faculty-driven, grassroots initiative to support cross-disciplinary research and education and promote a more open, collaborative, and cross-disciplinary culture on the UNLV campus.
The CoRE initiative seeks to address contemporary societal, environmental, technological, and economic challenges facing our community, while retaining national and global significance, within and across seven primary areas: Emergent Learning Technologies, Health, Gaming and Hospitality, IT/Cybersecurity, Renewable Resources, Humanities, and Urban and Social Issues. The CoRE Fellows represent each of these areas in order to provide strategic direction and foster new collaborative and research opportunities among faculty from different disciplines.
Come join the CoRE Fellows for this informal mixer and mingle across the disciplines at the Faculty & Staff Social from 4 pm - 6pm on May 15, 2014 in the Stan Fulton Building.
