UNLV Voice Student Shines in Super Bowl Ad
If you happen to watch Super Bowl LV this weekend, you’ll see a commercial from the job-search company Indeed. In it, an absolutely beautiful voice sings the song "Rise Up" throughout the ad, and that voice belongs to UNLV voice student Christian Shelton. Christian, a sophomore voice performance major and student of Dr. Alfonse Anderson, got the call from a Southern California advertising agency after one of the creatives who worked there heard Christian's version of the song on TikTok (where Christian has a following of more than 680,000!) The woman reached out to Christian via Instagram (Christian has nearly 55,000 followers on that channel), explained how much she loved his rendition on TikTok of "Rise Up," explained she had an ad she was working on, and asked if Christian would be interested in doing it. It was then that he found out that the ad was going to be for the Super Bowl. In Christian's words: "I was so shocked, but so grateful!"
It's interesting to note that this is Indeed's first-ever Super Bowl ad. "Rise Up" was written by Andra Day and Jennifer Decilveo, and released in 2015.
