UNLV School of Nursing, Valley Health System Expand Dedicated Education Unit Program

Aug. 21, 2014

School of Nursing students will have more opportunities for hands-on clinical experiences this fall when The Valley Health System expands the Dedicated Education Unit (DEU) program—the only one if its kind in Nevada—to Spring Valley Hospital. Unlike other clinical programs that have instructor-to-student ratios of one to eight or more, staff nurses in the DEUs at Summerlin and Spring Valley Hospitals mentor one to two students. More than 250 UNLV nursing students have refined their skills in the DEU since it opened in 2012.
