UNLV partners with Cox Communications to help students without home internet access

Sep. 15, 2020

UNLV now offers subsidies for internet service to students who do not have home internet access. These subsidies enhance savings through a new partnership with Cox Communications, which is offering students discounted rates for home internet access through the Cox Cares program.

Although this semester has brought new challenges due to the ongoing pandemic, UNLV is working hard to find ways to ease the effects it may have on the student experience at UNLV.

The Cox Cares program, paired with the UNLV subsidy, is intended to help students access their online and remote-delivery courses if they do not already have access to the internet in their home. The UNLV subsidy is valid through Dec. 31, 2020.

The program and subsidy are available with no credit check, no installation costs and no contract. Students may choose from two internet speed packages:

Cox Cares 1
Up to 25 Mbps download
Up to 3 Mbps upload
$30/month ($15 with UNLV subsidy)

Cox Cares 2
Up to 50 Mbps download
Up to 3 Mbps upload
$40/month ($25 with UNLV subsidy)

Cox Cares 1 can generally accommodate one or two people using the internet at a time, and the Cox Cares 2 plan is considered better if more than two people are on the internet at the same time. To learn more or to submit an interest form, visit the UNLV Cox Cares website.
