UNLV Nextet Launches Podcast
UNLV Nextet new music has released its first video podcast episode featuring our Nextet guest composer, Michael Torke, discussing his new recording “Being” with the UNLV student and faculty composers followed by a Q&A. This is the first video released on our brand new Nextet YouTube channel.
These podcast episodes will be released every two weeks this semester, and it is a way for all of us to connect with our new music series composers and performers during this time when we are working remotely without the live concert experience, which we all miss so much! The majority of these conversations will happen over Zoom, and any UNLV faculty and students are invited to be a part of these sessions to contribute in the Q&A with the artist(s). Episodes include conversations with student and faculty composers on their current projects, saxophonist Shawna Pennock and her international Live Warm-up with saxophonists from all of the world, episodes featuring our amazing Nextet team on performance and music-business related topics, and even a new music - baking episode featuring Katie Leung. In addition to various episodes, we also will feature a virtual concert November 18th that will showcase a variety of contemporary music performed by both faculty and student performers here at UNLV with a pre-concert discussion.
On another note, we are thrilled to have an amazing Nextet team this semester comprising student composers and performers who not only will be featured on the podcast conversations and November concert, but also will be contributing their music business skills in the production of all of these Nextet events.
