UNLV Music Grad Accepts Position as Director of Jazz Studies at Hope College
Robert Shipley is graduating this week with his MM in Theory/ Composition- Jazz- and there's even more exciting news to share about his next chapter. Beginning in August of this year, Robert will be the Director of Jazz Studies at Hope College in Holland, Michigan! Robert will teach courses in the jazz studies sequence, and will be building the Department’s large jazz ensemble, organize jazz combos, and he'll be doing studio teaching in both classical and jazz styles. Robert was most recently a graduate assistant in the UNLV Division of Jazz and Commercial Music for the past two years as he was pursuing his master's degree, and he was a member of Alex Clement's composition studio. Robert also earned his BM in Jazz and Commercial Music at UNLV, and has enjoyed a highly successful career as a professional drummer touring the world for more than three decades with artists including Chaka Khan, Natalie Cole, and Diana Ross.
