The phone call no person ever wants to receive. Dental student Kyle Naylor, Class of 2022, died tragically in a plane crash on November 30 with many other family members.

Although devastated by the news, Kyle’s fellow students, professors, and staff members immediately rallied to comfort his family. Class of 2022 president Cameron Hyer shared information about a memorial candlelight vigil hosted by Kyle’s church; nearly 100 classmates and school personnel joined the congregation to celebrate his life.

Hyer and his fellow classmates also started a heart-felt project for Kyle’s family.

“All who knew Kyle, loved him. His happy presence was uplifting for all of us,” Hyer said. “The Class of 2022 decided to create a memorial book for Kyle’s wife and children. We asked that anyone who had any interactions with Kyle to share those experiences. We want the book to be something his kids can read for years to come so they learn about and get to know the quality of man their dad was.”

One of the submissions noted, “Beyond being kind, Kyle was funny and exuded such a warm energy. He frequently made jokes and our whole bench would frequently have to stifle giggles during lecture.”

Another reads, “I remember late nights we would spend studying before exams and how often he would sacrifice study time and sleep to make sure he could be home in time to put his kids to bed. He was the ultimate example of a father and a friend.”

And another stated, “You were the type of person that by spending time around you made me want to become a better husband, father and son.”

The class has already received submissions for the book, and, according to Hyer, more arrive each day. Those wanting to contribute to the memory book can send their messages via email to hyerc2@unlv.nevada.edu

Funeral services will be held in Kyle’s hometown of Twin Falls, Idaho on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building located adjacent to the Temple at 2085 S Temple Drive in Twin Falls, Idaho. The viewing will be starting at 9:30 AM prior to the service. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery in Ammon, Idaho.
