Dr. Ralina L. Joseph delivered her University Forum Lecture to a full house at the Barrick Museum auditorium. The lecture was titled, "Does "Post-Race" Mean "After Race"? Transcending Blackness in the 21st Century United States." Interdisciplinary Degree Programs co-sponsored the lecture and IDP’s Dr. Manoucheka Celeste coordinated Joseph’s visit to UNLV. The College of Liberal Arts lecture was also co-sponsored by UNLV’s Department of Political Science, Office of Civic Engagement and Diversity, Center for Health Disparities Research, Council for African American Professionals, and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority. Joseph is an award winning scholar and an Associate Professor of Communication at the University of Washington. In introducing Joseph, Dr. Celeste said she hopes this event will bring attention and enthusiasm to the rebirth of African American Studies at UNLV and called on the campus community for support.
