Nov. 28, 2018

The following funding opportunities and awards are provided or managed by the Office of Undergraduate Research and offer research funding or recognition for undergraduate students during Summer 2019 or the 2019 – 2020 academic year. The application deadline for all opportunities listed below is 5:00 pm on Monday, April 1, 2019 unless noted otherwise.

Research Scholarships:

Please note that only one application packet is required to be considered for all three OUR and CSUN scholarships (OUR SURF, CSUN Stipend, and CSUN Research & Development Scholarships).

CSUN Research & Development Scholarship ($3000)

The CSUN Research and Development Scholarship recognizes undergraduate students who display academic ability and potential. This scholarship includes a monetary award of $3,000 that will be awarded to two (2) students who will be actively working on a research, scholarly, or art project during the 2019 – 2020 academic year.

CSUN Undergraduate Research Stipend ($5000)

The CSUN Undergraduate Research Stipend provides financial support to students who display research ability and potential while they actively engage in a research project. A primary function of this scholarship is to reduce financial barriers that students may face while completing undergraduate research activities by decreasing the need for outside employment. This scholarship includes funding for six (6) undergraduate students who will be actively working on a research, scholarly, or art project during the 2019 – 2020 academic year: 3 recipients from the Social Sciences, Business, Fine Arts, and Humanities, and 3 recipients from STEM fields. Each of the 6 recipients will receive a research stipend of $5,000 per academic year, to be disbursed across two semesters.
